Whilst the decision around the Puppet and Creative Ministry Festival was almost relatively simple last year, this year it has been significantly harder. After many discussions and lots of prayer, we have sadly come to the conclusion that we cannot host the Festival in October so will be postponing again until 2022.
The months of work that go into the Festival along with the significant cost involved is a risk we just are not in a position to take this year. Even if there was just a 10% drop in bookings this year due to hesitations around large group gatherings, potential restrictions being re-introduced going into winter or any other factors, it could have a big impact on our ministry. From speaking to and getting feedback from puppet teams, we have found that a number have reduced in size as they were not able to meet and perform as normal. In some cases this has already been reflected in some of the group bookings for the Festival being smaller than previous years.
For everyone already booked for this year’s Festival we would love for you to transfer your booking to the 2022 event, but of course, if this wasn’t possible, then please get in touch and we can process a full refund through for you. Simply call us on 01472 362810 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. I know this will be disappointing news and I’m sure you will believe me when I say it is for all of us here too.
We never could have imagined to be cancelling the Festival again this year. It’s been a very difficult few weeks as we considered all our options, BUT by not running the Festival this year we will be to using this time to develop new areas of One Way UK, with a focus on building up the Puppet Ministry community across the country, working on ways to better support teams/individuals whatever their experience, invest time on making essential improvements to the website and a range of other projects that have been delayed due to time constraints. We believe that setting up all these new initiatives will have a greater impact in supporting teams in the longer term than running a festival this year.
Whilst we are not able to meet together in Rugby in October, we are looking at what we can do at that time online and will let you know more when we have more plans in place. The last 18 months have been a really difficult time for many of us. But from all the team here at One Way UK we want to say just how grateful we are for your prayers and support.
Whilst this is not the positive announcement about the Festival we were hoping to make, there are exciting times ahead and we can’t wait to journey with you through the adventure that is puppet ministry.
