PUPPET ACADEMY 2018
We are looking for 8 - 12 of the best puppeteers in the United Kingdom and Europe to join the
“Puppet Academy Team 2018”
WHAT IS IT?
Puppet Academy is a special training week taking place between Saturday 4th August and Saturday 11th August, during this time you will work as part of the Academy team developing, learning and performing a puppet production of a selection of songs which will be launched and showcased at the 2018 European Festival. You will have the opportunity to be involved with every aspect of the performance from choreography, theatre and blacklight puppetry to prop building, stage design and more!
WHAT‘S IN IT FOR ME?
Puppet Academy is an intensive week but also an excellent opportunity to push your puppetry skills further and it’s of course great fun, with many previous team members coming back for a second or third year and the friendships made during Puppet Academy last long after the week has finished.
“I came back! It was lovely to come back to Academy to meet my friends from last year, make some new ones and do some awesome puppetry. After last year I didn't think we could make the showcase any more complicated than walking backwards with a drum on our heads but the team have managed to raise the bar yet again. The puppetry has been much more challenging for me so it was nice to test my skills and see how far I could push myself. Yet again the week was thoroughly enjoyable and I can't wait to show everyone the amazing stuff we have in store for the festival!”
Joshua Macrow, Puppet Academy Team Member 2016/2017
WHERE IS THE ACADEMY?
VENUE TO BE CONFIRMED. Previously it has taken place at The Viking Centre, Claxby, Lincolnshire, LN8 3YR, just 30 minutes South West of our Head Office in Grimsby. Although it may be moving to a new location in Grimsby this year.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
There is a nominal cost to you of £100, this will go towards the cost of your accommodation, food for the week and the teaching you will receive. The European Puppet & Creative Arts Festival will be free to all Puppet Academy team members.
HOW DO I QUALIFY?
To apply, you will need to be over the age of sixteen (we require parental consent for those aged under 18 years) and be a competent rod-arm puppeteer.
