We are now offering private online Puppet Workshops!
This workshop offers you the chance for training with your puppet team, children’s workers, children’s church or anyone of your choice! While we will continue to offer the free sessions as often as we can, these are open to anyone to attend that have registered with us. Our new private sessions will be exclusively for you and those you invite, you won’t be sharing the training with anyone else. We sadly can’t run our Training Days at the moment, so why not get your team together through Zoom for some small group training with an experienced puppeteer from One Way UK? Or maybe you have new members in the team who you would love to involve more in the group? Suitable for adults and children alike and great for the absolute beginner or those just wanting to refresh their skills.
These fun and informal sessions are held through the Zoom video conference platform (full guidance and support can be offered for setting this up). If you know the date and time you would like to book, please select this above (subject to team availability), if not, this can be confirmed after the booking is made. If you have any questions you can use our Live Chat or email david@onewayuk.com and we would be happy to help!
There are currently two types of workshops available to book:
Basic Puppetry (approximately 60 minutes):
Come and be inspired by the potential of puppetry! This interactive workshop will work through the six foundations of puppetry, cover basic arm rod use and also teach the choreography to a complete puppet song! Perfect if you are looking for a refresher or just getting started in using puppets! So everyone can fully join in, it’s best if you all have a puppet with a moving mouth and arm rods with you. One of our large people puppets (available here) would be ideal.
By the end of the session, we will make sure that everyone involved feels confident with the basic techniques. This is best achieved with a smaller group of 25 people or less, to ensure each person has individual attention and feedback. After the session, we will send the MP3 track of the song from the workshop, along with a video of the complete routine so you can easily watch it back for any reminders!
Solo Puppetry (approximately 60 minutes):
Solo puppetry is a great resource for using on your own in church, Messy Church, school assemblies, care homes and also as part of your main team performances as a linking tool. In the current lockdown situation where churches are moving services and content online, the Dog in a Bag and other solo puppets are a perfect resource for producing fun and engaging videos at home. In this session Ian will cover some of the different types of solo puppets and how to use them, sharing ideas, demonstrations and inspiring you to give it a go or refine your skills further! It’s best if you have a puppet (with a moving mouth) with you although it isn’t essential. One of our Dog in a Bag Puppets (available here) would be ideal.
Ian Jones (Managing Director of One Way UK) who has been the team leader of his church’s puppet team for 22 years and has led workshops at the Puppet and Creative Ministry Festival on solo puppetry will lead this workshop.
