Puppet Training Day – St. Helens, Merseyside
Saturday 2nd March 2019 @ 10:00 am - 4:30 pm£18 – £25
A practical day full of opportunities to develop your skills, find resources and be inspired with new ideas!
This exciting puppet training day is designed to give you hands on experience within the following areas: basic and advanced puppetry skills, solo and theatre style puppetry, how to start a puppet ministry (including finances, equipment, recruiting etc.), props and scenery, choreography, putting a song together and much more! There will also be performances and demonstrations throughout the day to give you plenty of starting ideas.
The day is for adults and young people, those who are curious as to how puppetry can enhance your outreach, schools workers, church leaders, Sunday school teachers, youth/children's workers or those already involved in puppet ministry and wanting to improve or refresh their skills! There will also be a large range of resources available for you to try out and purchase, including the latest puppets from the One Way UK Creative Productions workshop! Please contact us if there is anything specific you would like us to bring.
But why puppetry?
In 1 Corinthians 9:22 Paul wrote "I have become all things to all men, that by all means, I might save some." The last thing on Paul's mind would have been evangelism through puppetry! However, his words fit the vision that lies behind the development of One Way UK. Puppets are increasingly being used in TV adverts and marketing, proving to be both entertaining and visually memorable, so the vision is, because both children and adults enjoy and engage with puppets, why not evangelise and teach the Gospel through the art of puppetry? Puppeteers associated with One Way UK have proven how effective puppet ministry can be in a wide variety of environments; churches, schools, care homes, prisons, community events and more! They have even performed all over the world! The international popularity of puppetry confirms its appeal as an effective multicultural tool. Ask puppeteers and they will tell you that they use puppetry... because it works!
Cost: only £18 per person if booked 10 days prior to event, or £25 thereafter.
Time: The day will start at 10am and finish at 4:30pm. Registration opens at 9:30am.
Address: St. Michael & All Angels Church, 232 Gartons Lane, Clock Face, Saint Helens, WA9 4RA
Refreshments will be available but please bring a packed lunch and a puppet if you have one. There will be a selection of practice puppets available for you to use if needed. Please note the training day is not suitable for children under the age of 9, unless they are an active member of a puppet team. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
