Do I need to bring a puppet with me?
If you have one great! If not, don’t worry, there will be a limited amount of practice puppets available for you to use during the hands-on workshops. There will also be plenty of puppets to buy in the resources area if you find a character you like, you can put them straight to use!
Who is the event for?
The Festival is not only for puppeteers! There is so much more available over the two days! It is for anyone wanting to learn new creative skills or find how they can be more creative themselves. Whether you work with children or adults, in Sunday School or the community, the Festival really does have something for you.
Do I need to choose and sign up for workshops before the event?
No, you can pick and choose whichever workshops you want to go to, no pre-booking needed.
What are the competitions for?
To promote excellence in puppetry and to inspire and encourage others to do their best in their own ministries. The competitions are open to all puppeteers and solo puppeteers/ventriloquists. They are not about coming 1st, 2nd and 3rd, but about improving ability, encouragement and passing on ideas to each other. There is a set criteria and judging form that our judges adhere to. The competition guidelines and judging forms can be downloaded on our main Competitions Page or obtained from the Events Department by calling 01472 241068 or emailing email@example.com. The Puppet Ventriloquism/Solo Competition, Solo Song Competition and Open Competition take place on the Friday and the Puppet Skit and Song Competition are on the Saturday. There are a limited number of places for the competitions and these are often fully booked, so book early to avoid disappointment. Please note, we have changed the way competitions are booked, these are no longer entered at the same time as booking your Festival passes, they are now reserved through the online form on our Competitions Page.
